Tibial Tuberosity Advancement (TTA)

Tibial Tuberosity Advancement (TTA) is the smart new alternative to TPLO surgery for cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) injuries in the stifle of a dog. Compared with TPLO, TTA is less invasive, easier to perform, and results in accelerated recovery periods with early return to weight-bearing activities.

Rupture of the cranial cruciate ligament in the stifle of the dog is probably the most common cause of hind limb lameness seen in the general practice setting.

Advantages of TTA:

  • TTA is less invasive and simpler to perform than TPLO
  • TTA can be performed in 45 minutes vs. 1½ hours for TPLO
  • TTA recovery time is much shorter with early return of ROM and weight bearing activities compared to TPLO
